Eduskills+ Media2: Media in Kindergarten

| 10. 02. 2025 | Projects

Eduskills+ Media2, which is part of the Erasmus+ programme, is the first project in which Časoris is involved, and it is aimed at preschool children, their parents, and educators.

Media2 is a continuation of the Media project, in which the applicants, the cultural institution Inter-kulturo from Maribor, with their partners, focused primarily on the use of photography as a medium.

The applicants wrote at that time: “Today, children grow up surrounded media. They use them intuitively and without fear. If we want media use to be safe, effective, and constructive, we need to teach them how to use media properly, just as we do with other skills. Through media education in kindergartens, children can learn how to use media and create with their help. The emphasis should be on using media as a tool for realizing one’s own ideas and goals, not just learning how to handle media and devices correctly. Early media education in kindergartens can also help reduce the digital divide and provide the foundation for later media literacy and media skills.”

The following partners are also involved in the Eduskills+ Media2 project:

We will increase children’s media literacy and encourage responsible media use among children, teachers, and parents.

Together with our partners, we aim to address the challenges posed media use among younger children; we want to equip educators with effective tools and methodologies; and we seek to encourage parents to adopt a more quality-driven approach to media content.

The key focuses of the project are:

  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Reflection.

In doing so, we will focus on activities that can be done without the use of screens.

We will pay attention to:

  • Healthy media habits (screen time)
  • Navigating of media content (real and fictional information that children might encounter in kindergartens, media suitable for learning and teaching)
  • Basic digital literacy (already developed through the Media project, focused on photography)
  • Creative media use
  • Social awareness and empathy (through media, we will explore cultural diversity)

We began the project gathering and evaluating best practices, which we will complement with the development of new, innovative methodologies for media literacy education in kindergartens.

Ideas and activities will be tested on target groups through pilot activities involving parents, educators, and children.

For educators and parents, we will prepare workshops and provide online materials to further enhance the knowledge gained.

All materials, including tools and activities, will be available in four languages on the Eduskills+ platform.
